Our Heritage and Mission
Founded in 1950 by Russian émigrés, our parish is part of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) and has a rich history rooted in faith and cultural heritage. Our founders, who worked at the Army Language School (now the Defense Language Institute) in Monterey, established our community to preserve and celebrate Russian Orthodox feasts and traditions. Since then, we’ve grown into a welcoming spiritual home that carries on the Orthodox faith in all its beauty and depth.
A Community United in Worship and Tradition
In the early 1970s, we relocated our church to its present location, surrounded by the tranquility of a nearby park. Today, our services are primarily in Church Slavonic on Sundays, with English incorporated during weekday services to ensure accessibility for all. In addition to our congregation, we have a dedicated sisterhood that supports church life.
Our Founder’s Vision and Mission
Our church began with a vision inspired by deep faith and devotion. Founded by a devoted follower, our parish is committed to preserving the sacred traditions and teachings of the Orthodox Church. Rooted in the practice of Russian Orthodox feasts, we honor the liturgical calendar, bringing our community together in observance of holy days and sacred rituals that have been celebrated for centuries.
Serving and Supporting Our Community
We see our mission as one of spiritual guidance, community connection, and faithful service. Our ROCOR parish services provide a peaceful space for worship and reflection, welcoming all who seek to deepen their faith and understanding. Join us in this journey, where every service and prayer brings us closer together in faith.
